Te mapa
Escárcega lies in the interior of Campeche, in the low, forested country at the base of the Yucatán Peninsula. The town grew as a junction, and on a map that origin is plain: straight highways arrive from several directions and meet near the centre, with a regular grid of blocks built around them. Beyond the edges the land is flat, cut by long field boundaries and patches of remaining forest.
The railway was central to its development, and the line through town is now part of the Tren Maya network, which has a station here. Roads from Escárcega lead north to the Gulf coast at Champotón, east towards Chetumal and west towards Villahermosa in Tabasco, making it one of the key transport crossings of the region.
An Escárcega map poster is all about intersections: the meeting of highways, the rail line cutting across town and the grid filling the spaces between them. Printed in black and white, those lines become a clear, almost diagrammatic image, a portrait of a place defined by movement across the peninsula.
Federal highways from the coast, the east and the west converge at Escárcega, drawing long straight lines that meet near the town and dominate the composition.
The railway runs through town on a steady, straight alignment, now used by the Tren Maya, adding a second strong line across the street grid.
Between the main roads, blocks of regular streets fill the built-up area, a simple pattern that reads cleanly against the surrounding fields and forest.

For people from Escárcega, and for those who have passed through it many times on the road across the peninsula, the town is a fixed point of the journey. The map captures that role in a single clean image.
