Estancia sits on the north-eastern coast of Panay in the province of Iloilo. The town looks out over the Visayan Sea, one of the country's most productive fishing grounds. Fishing defines the place. Estancia is known as a major fishing port in Western Visayas and is sometimes called the Alaska of the Philippines because of the size of its catch.
