Te mapa
Fatick lies in western Senegal on the flat country of the Sine, inland from the Saloum delta. From above, the town is a compact cluster of blocks. A tidal channel winds along its edge, and around the built area the ground opens into pale salt flats and scattered farmland. Almost nothing on the map rises above the plain, so the shapes of the water and the roads are what give the town its outline.
The streets form a loose grid that gets sparser toward the outskirts. Wide lots and courtyards read as open space among the house blocks. National roads pass through the town and link it to Kaolack and the coast, and the town's main routes gather along them. On the map, the difference between the dense centre and the scattered edges is easy to see, and it gives Fatick an unfussy, open character.
Fatick is the capital of the region of the same name and belongs to the historic Sine homeland of the Serer people. It is also widely known as the birthplace of Macky Sall, the former president of Senegal. A Fatick map poster keeps the town the way it looks from above: a quiet grid of streets, a thin line of water, and a lot of open land.
A narrow arm of water from the Saloum system curves past the town. In black and white it becomes a thin, irregular line through the otherwise straight blocks.
Bare saline ground around the town shows up as wide empty areas on the map. Against them, the dense centre and the road lines stand out clearly.
National roads meet at Fatick and head toward Kaolack and the Atlantic coast. They are the longest, straightest strokes on the poster.

Koteā ko Fatick
People hang a map of Fatick to remember a family home, a posting in the region, or time spent in the Sine country. The layout is simple and flat, and it works well on a wall because it is so restrained.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example to mark a birth date or the year you left. Choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
