Te mapa
Faversham sits on the north Kent coast, set back from the Swale and linked to it by Faversham Creek, a narrow tidal channel that once carried much of the town's trade. On a map the creek curls in from the north through open marshland, and the historic town gathers on the higher ground at its head.
The centre has kept much of its medieval layout: a market place, a raised Guildhall, and streets lined with timber-framed and brick buildings, many of them listed. The town is home to Shepherd Neame, often described as Britain's oldest brewer. For centuries it was also a centre of the English gunpowder industry, whose works lay on the outskirts.
Later housing fills out the edges beyond the old streets, and the railway passes just south of the centre. A Faversham map poster brings these pieces together: the irregular core, the thin line of the creek, and the flat grazing marshes stretching toward the estuary. In black and white, the marshes read almost like open sea.
A narrow tidal inlet runs from the Swale up to the edge of the town, its curves traced through marshland. Boatyards and quays line its upper reaches.
The market place and the streets around it follow a layout that has changed little over the centuries, giving the map a compact, irregular heart.
Flat, low-lying marshes spread north of the town toward the estuary, leaving a wide, quiet expanse on the print broken only by drainage channels and the creek.

Koteā ko Faversham
Faversham appeals to people who like towns that still show their history in their shape. The creek and marshes give the design a strong natural edge, and the print suits a cottage hallway as well as a city flat.
