Te mapa
Gillingham is the largest of the Medway towns in north Kent, on the south bank of the river where it widens toward the estuary. Its map is dominated by long runs of Victorian and Edwardian terraces laid out in close, regular rows that climb gently from the waterfront toward higher ground. Along the river the pattern loosens into marshes, creeks and the open space of the Strand.
The town grew alongside the naval dockyard at Chatham, and the Royal Engineers have long been based at Brompton on its western side. The open slopes of the Great Lines, once defensive ground, still show as a green wedge between the two towns. Gillingham is also home to Gillingham FC, whose ground at Priestfield sits among the terraced streets.
A Gillingham map poster captures the contrast between the tight, combed texture of those terraces and the ragged edge of the Medway, where mudflats, inlets and reclaimed land break up the shoreline. It works as a portrait of a working town shaped by the river and by the navy, rather than as a postcard view.
Row after row of parallel residential streets fill the centre and south of town, creating the fine, even hatching that gives the poster most of its density.
The river edge curves past the Strand and out toward creeks and marshes, a soft, irregular line that contrasts with the ordered streets inland.
On the western side, the open slopes of the Great Lines separate Gillingham from Chatham, a clear wedge of blank space between two dense street patterns.

Koteā ko Gillingham
Medway families, people who trained at Brompton and Gills supporters all have reasons to want this particular map on a wall. It records a place people often move away from but rarely stop describing to others.
Add a name, a posting year or a match date in the title and subtitle, adjust the coordinates line, and pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Printed posters come on matte paper with an optional wooden frame.
