Te mapa
Fukawa lies on the northern bank of the Tone River in southern Ibaraki, in the area now administered as the town of Tone. From above, the river decides almost everything. A wide, slow channel runs past the settlement, held between raised levees, and the land behind it opens into flat lowland where fields are laid out in neat rectangles and roads run along the dikes.
The built-up area is compact and follows the river rather than a planned grid. Older lanes cluster close to the water where a crossing has long linked Fukawa with Fusa on the Chiba side, while newer housing spreads outward in looser blocks. Drainage channels, irrigation ditches and farm tracks cut fine lines through the open ground and give the surrounding plain a clear, quiet texture.
A Fukawa map poster shows the relationship between a small town and a large river at close range. The folklorist Yanagita Kunio spent part of his boyhood here, and he later said the years in Fukawa shaped his interest in rural life. On paper the place reads as a band of dense streets pressed against water, with a wide field pattern stretching away from it.
One of Japan's longest rivers passes right beside the town. Its broad channel and the embankments on both banks make a strong double line across the poster.
A bridge links Fukawa with Fusa on the opposite bank, joining two prefectures across the river and giving the composition a clear line from north to south.
Around the town, flat farmland is divided into regular plots edged by ditches and narrow tracks. This makes a fine, even pattern that sets off the denser streets.

Koteā ko Fukawa
Some people hang Fukawa because they grew up in the Tone River lowlands. Others want a map of a quiet riverside town with a literary link. The mix of levees, fields and a small street core works well in black and white, whether it hangs in a study or a hallway.
You can change the title, subtitle and coordinates line to mark a family home, a move or a date that matters to you. Then choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The file comes as a $9 HD download or as a printed poster.
