Garner lies immediately south-east of Raleigh in Wake County, North Carolina. On a map it looks typical of the Triangle's growth: a small historic core along the railway and old main road, surrounded by curving residential streets, cul-de-sacs and shopping corridors, all threaded between creeks and patches of Piedmont woodland.
Interstate 40 and US 70 cross the area, giving the map strong diagonal lines, while Lake Benson on the south side adds a broad patch of water.
