Ginan is a town in Hashima District, Gifu Prefecture, lying on the broad Nobi Plain just south of Gifu city. The land is almost entirely flat, and the map shows a close mix of housing and farmland typical of central Japan. Narrow residential streets form dense clusters, while rice paddies and vegetable fields fill the spaces between them in small, regular rectangles.
A railway line and main roads run through the town, linking it to Gifu and to Nagoya further south.
