Te mapa
Gubadag is a town in the Daşoguz province of northern Turkmenistan, close to the border with Uzbekistan. It lies in the irrigated lowland of the lower Amu Darya, a region historically known as Khorezm. Around it, fields and canals turn what would otherwise be desert into a green oasis. On the map, the fine lines of irrigation are the main visual theme.
The town itself has a compact, regular layout, with blocks of low houses and wider main streets from the Soviet period. Beyond them, the land is divided by canals and ditches into narrow strips and plots, much of it used for cotton and grain. Further out, the fields give way to open ground, and the frame becomes quieter.
A Gubadag map poster reads as a picture of water management. Main canals run in long, straight or softly curved lines, smaller channels branch off them, and the town sits where these lines meet the roads. It is a spare, geometric image of a place that depends entirely on the river far upstream.
Main canals and their branches run through the farmland around the town. They create a network of lines that shapes the whole landscape.
Cultivated land is divided into narrow plots between canals. On the poster this produces a dense striped texture that surrounds the town.
The town lies on the flat delta lowland near the Uzbek frontier. Here the irrigated land eventually fades into the open ground of the surrounding plains.
