Helin is a small town in the Chongqing municipality in southwestern China, in the hilly country on the eastern side of the Sichuan Basin. The landscape here is made of low hills, narrow valleys and farmland, and the map reflects that setting. Streets cluster where the ground is flattest, and roads wind through valleys to neighbouring settlements.
Around the town, the land is divided into fields, often terraced on the slopes, and small watercourses run through the valleys. The road network is sparse and irregular, following the contours of the terrain rather than any grid.
