The surviving pier head stands alone in the water off the seafront. This small offshore shape makes the map instantly recognisable.

Te mapa
Herne Bay sits on the north coast of Kent, facing the Thames Estuary where it opens into the North Sea. The town stretches along the shore in a long, shallow curve. A promenade and seafront gardens form its edge, and residential streets climb gently inland. From above, the coastline is the defining line, broad and calm.
The pier is the most unusual feature of a Herne Bay map poster. It was once one of the longest in Britain, but a storm in 1978 broke it and left the old pier head standing alone offshore, cut off from the town. Near the seafront, the clock tower built in 1837 is among the earliest purpose-built freestanding clock towers in the country.
East of the town, the coast leads toward Reculver, where the twin towers of a medieval church stand on the site of a Roman fort and can be seen from far out at sea. Herne Bay grew as a Victorian resort served by the railway, and its streets still have that planned seaside regularity.
The surviving pier head stands alone in the water off the seafront. This small offshore shape makes the map instantly recognisable.
The promenade follows the gentle curve of the bay for a long stretch. It gives the poster a sweeping edge along the estuary.
To the east, open coast and farmland lead to Reculver and its twin towers. There the built-up area gives way to a wider, emptier shoreline.

Koteā ko Herne Bay
Herne Bay appeals to Londoners who moved to the coast, families who have spent summers here for generations, and anyone fond of its sunsets over the estuary. A map poster records the curve of the bay and the stranded pier in a single glance.
Add a title, a subtitle and a date, such as a move or a wedding, and adjust the coordinates. Pick Classic, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download the HD files for $9, or order a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
