Te mapa
Hōshakuji lies in Tochigi Prefecture, in the northern Kantō plain just north of Utsunomiya. From above, the area is shaped by a railway: the main line runs north through it, and Hōshakuji station is where the branch line to Karasuyama begins, making the station a small but notable junction.
Around the station, a compact area of streets and houses gives way quickly to newer residential districts and then to rice paddies, whose rectangular plots spread across the plain. Low wooded rises and small rivers add variation to the otherwise flat, carefully cultivated landscape.
A Hōshakuji map poster brings out this pairing of rail and field: straight lines of track, a neat cluster of streets, and the fine, regular geometry of paddies all around. In black and white, it becomes a calm portrait of a commuter town in rural Japan.
The main line and the branch towards Karasuyama separate near the station, drawing two diverging lines across the map from a single point.
Streets and houses cluster most densely near the station, forming a compact centre that loosens into newer housing further out.
Rectangular paddy fields surround the town, creating a precise repeating pattern that fills much of the map and frames the built-up area.

Koteā ko Hōshakuji
Hōshakuji is the kind of place that people know through daily rhythm: the station, the walk home, the fields at the edge of town. A map poster turns that ordinary geography into something worth looking at every day.
