Te mapa
Ibeto is a town in Niger State, in north-central Nigeria, the country's largest state by land area. The town sits in open savanna country, and its layout is compact: houses and compounds cluster close to the main roads, with footpaths and smaller lanes running between them and out into the surrounding fields.
Around the town, the land is farmed in small plots and dotted with hamlets connected by tracks. Seasonal streams cross the landscape, full during the rains and much quieter in the dry months. From above, the pattern is one of loose clusters and long connecting lines rather than dense, continuous streets.
An Ibeto map poster is a portrait of a small town in a large landscape. The streets form a modest knot at the centre, and the roads stretching away across the print link it to neighbouring communities and to the wider region. For anyone with family here, that simple arrangement is instantly familiar.
The built-up area is small and concentrated, with compounds and lanes gathered around the main roads, forming a clear, dense focal point on the poster.
Roads and tracks run out from the town across the savanna, drawing long lines towards neighbouring villages and giving the whole print its structure.
Farmland and grassland surround the town on all sides. In black and white these spaces stay open, so the lines of roads and settlements stand out clearly.
