Isehara lies in central Kanagawa, where the flat Sagami plain meets the Tanzawa mountains. From above, the southern and central parts of the city form a dense network of residential streets, rail lines and small rivers, while the northwest rises into forested slopes. The division between plain and mountain is sharp, and it gives the map a clear diagonal edge.
The city is the traditional gateway to Mount Ōyama, a long-established pilgrimage mountain with Afuri Shrine and Ōyama-dera temple on its slopes. In the Edo period, pilgrims from Edo walked here in large numbers. Today the Odakyu line serves the city, and Tokai University's hospital is a major local institution.
An Isehara map poster captures that contrast between built plain and wooded mountain. The dense urban texture fades into winding roads and valleys toward the northwest, where the approach to Ōyama begins. It is a city with a quiet, grounded sense of place, and the print reflects that simply.
Roads leading northwest toward the mountain narrow and curve as they climb, following the old pilgrimage routes into the forested foothills.
The railway crosses the city through the station area, where streets are densest and the main commercial district is concentrated.
The street network stops abruptly where the slopes begin, leaving the map's upper corner largely open and emphasising the terrain.

The print is well suited to hikers who know Ōyama, families living on the Odakyu line, or anyone who grew up at the edge of the Tanzawa. The contrast between plain and mountain gives it a strong structure.
