Te mapa
Iskitim lies in Novosibirsk Oblast, south of Novosibirsk, on the banks of the Berd River. From above, the river winds through the town in a series of loops, with wooded banks and open floodplain. The streets form separate districts on both sides, some with the regular blocks of Soviet housing estates and others with low private houses, all linked by bridges and main roads.
The town grew around limestone quarrying and cement production, and it remains known as a centre of the building materials industry. Large quarries and industrial sites show up on the map as broad, open shapes on the edges of the town. The railway line from Novosibirsk towards the Altai runs through Iskitim, adding another strong line to the plan.
An Iskitim map poster brings together river loops, industrial zones, rail and neighbourhoods in one composition. In monochrome, the mix of curving water, regular housing blocks and large quarry forms creates a distinctive, layered picture of a working Siberian town.
The Berd winds through Iskitim in broad curves with wooded banks. It divides the town into several districts and gives the map its natural rhythm.
Limestone quarries and cement works occupy large areas around the town. On the map they appear as open, geometric spaces at the edges.
The railway south from Novosibirsk passes through the town. Its straight course and station yard form a firm line across the plan.
