Te mapa
Ixmiquilpan lies in the Mezquital Valley of Hidalgo, a dry landscape north of Mexico City and the heart of the region's Otomí, or Hñähñu, community. On a map the town has a compact colonial core, and newer neighbourhoods and roads spread out toward the surrounding farmland and hills.
The town is known for the sixteenth-century Augustinian convent of San Miguel Arcángel, whose church murals mix European and Indigenous imagery. The Tula River runs nearby, and the Mezquital Valley is also known for its thermal springs and water parks. The weekly market draws people from across the region.
An Ixmiquilpan map poster shows the town's layers: the tight blocks around the old centre, the river's winding course, and the newer roads that spread into the valley. It reads as a clear portrait of a regional hub in the Mexican highlands.
The old town around the Augustinian convent forms a dense, regular block pattern. It anchors the map and shows where the town began.
The river winds through the area and gives the poster a soft, natural line against the town grid and the surrounding roads.
Highways and rural roads run out from the town across the dry valley toward farmland, villages and the region's thermal springs.
