Te mapa
‘Izrā is a small town in Karak Governorate, on the high plateau near the city of Karak in southern Jordan. This is upland country. Cultivated fields and open ground surround the settlement, and seasonal wadis cut into the land on their way down toward the Dead Sea basin to the west.
Its street pattern is informal rather than planned. Roads follow the terrain, houses gather along the routes connecting it to neighbouring villages and to Karak, and the edges fade into farmland. The plateau has been settled and farmed for a very long time, and the region is best known for the Crusader castle at Karak nearby.
An ‘Izrā map poster works at a modest scale. Instead of a dense grid it shows a loose network of lanes and connecting roads, with open space around it. The result is spare and airy, a portrait of a plateau town whose shape comes from the land and the roads that cross it.
The town lies on high ground in the Karak region, so the map is dominated by open farmland and scattered roads rather than dense urban blocks.
Roads run out toward Karak and nearby villages, and houses follow these routes, giving the settlement a branching outline instead of a compact core.
Dry valleys that run toward the Dead Sea basin shape the surrounding land, and road lines bend around them as they cross the plateau.

A map of ‘Izrā suits anyone with family roots on the Karak plateau, a place many people leave for Amman or abroad. The pale open ground and fine roads make a calm, understated piece that is still personal.
