Jijiang Map Poster & Print
Jijiang is the central subdistrict of Jiangjin, a district in the southwest of Chongqing Municipality. It lies on the Yangtze River, which dominates the map here as it curves through the landscape. The town has grown along the riverbank and up onto the hilly ground behind it, so the street pattern follows the terrain rather than a simple grid.
As in much of Chongqing, the hills produce winding roads, terraced blocks and sudden changes in direction. Newer districts spread over flatter land and are linked to the old riverside core by bridges and main roads. The water gives the map a strong, smooth boundary against the busy, irregular lines of the town.
A Jijiang map poster is a good example of how a great river shapes a city. The broad curve of the Yangtze sweeps across the frame, and streets gather along its edges and climb away from it. The result is a print with movement and contrast.
