Te mapa
Baisha is a town in Jiangjin District, in the southwest of Chongqing municipality, on the bank of the Yangtze River. On a map the river dominates everything. It sweeps through the frame as a wide, dark ribbon, and the town lies in a long band along one shore instead of spreading evenly in all directions.
The terrain here is typical of the Chongqing hills, and it shapes the street pattern. Roads follow the contours in long curves, older lanes run down toward the waterfront, and newer blocks sit on flatter ground set back from the river. Baisha has long worked as a river port, and its place on the water explains much of its layout.
A Baisha map poster works best with the river given room across the composition, so the relationship between water and town is clear. The fine lines of the streets cluster along the bank and thin out toward the farmland and hills around it. This gives the print a natural gradient from dense to open.
The river passes the town as a broad, gently curving band. It is the largest single shape on the map and sets the orientation of everything else.
Near the riverbank the street pattern tightens into short lanes and steps that run down toward the water. This is the oldest-looking and most intricate part of the drawing.
Away from the river, roads bend with the hills in long, looping lines. The pattern is common across the Chongqing region and quite unlike the straight grids of the plains.

Koteā ko Baisha
The river alone makes this map easy to recognise for anyone who knows it. For people with family roots in Jiangjin, or memories of the Yangtze towns upstream of Chongqing, it is a quiet way to keep a place close at hand.
The title can read Baisha or any name you prefer, with a subtitle, a date and the coordinates line below. Choose from five styles, including Noir for a dark river and Paper for a softer tone, then download the HD files for $9 or order a printed poster.
