Te mapa
Kailua sits on the windward side of Oʻahu, facing east across Kailua Bay. The map is shaped by water and mountains: a long crescent of beach on one side, the broad Kawainui Marsh on the other, and the steep Koʻolau Range rising behind the town, with the Pali Highway cutting through toward Honolulu.
Kawainui is the largest wetland in Hawaiʻi and an important cultural and ecological site, while Kaʻelepulu Pond and the waterways of Enchanted Lake give the southern neighbourhoods a watery, irregular outline. Just to the south, the narrow streets of Lanikai run beside the beach, and the twin Mokulua islets sit offshore.
The residential grid is relaxed rather than rigid, with low-rise streets filling the flat land between marsh and sea. A Kailua map poster captures this unusual balance of bay, wetland and ridge in a single frame, and it is a place many people know from holidays, family visits or years spent living on the windward coast.
A smooth crescent of shoreline curves along the eastern edge of the map, one of the most recognisable coastlines on Oʻahu and the town's defining line.
This broad wetland fills a large area west of town, appearing as an open, almost empty shape that makes the surrounding streets look sharply defined.
Two small islands sit just off Lanikai, and including them in the frame adds a pair of distinctive marks in the open ocean beyond the shore.

Koteā ko Kailua
People hang this map to remember a house near the beach, a honeymoon, a military posting or childhood summers on the windward side. The combination of sea, marsh and mountain gives the print a strong, graphic presence.
You can personalise the title, add a date in the subtitle and edit the coordinates line. Noir and Blueprint make the water dramatic, while Sand and Paper feel softer, alongside Classic black & white. Download HD files for $9 or order a matte print with an optional wooden frame.
