Te mapa
Kakinada sits on the coast of Andhra Pradesh at the northern edge of the Godavari delta. From above, the city is shaped by water on two sides: the open Bay of Bengal to the east and a network of irrigation canals from the delta running in from the west. The older town gathers near the waterfront, and newer neighbourhoods extend inland along the main roads.
The coastline is the defining feature. A long, narrow sand spit known as Hope Island shelters Kakinada Bay, creating the calm anchorage that made the port important. To the south, the Coringa mangroves spread in an intricate pattern of creeks. The town is also known across the region for kaja, a layered, syrup-soaked sweet.
A Kākināda map poster shows a city defined by its edges. Straight canals point toward the sea, harbour basins cut into the shoreline, and the thin curve of the spit encloses the bay. Inland, residential streets fill the land between the waterways. Printed in a single tone, the balance between water and land is clear at a glance.

Docks and harbour channels cut into the waterfront, marking Kakinada's long role as a trading port on the east coast.
Straight irrigation canals of the Godavari system reach the city from the west and add strong lines to the composition.
