Te mapa
Kamensk-Shakhtinsky lies in the north of Rostov Oblast, on the Seversky Donets River, close to the border with Ukraine. The town grew from a Don Cossack settlement, and its older streets still follow a fairly regular pattern near the river. From above, the Donets winds through the area in wide loops, and the town spreads along its banks and onto the higher ground.
In the twentieth century the town became part of the eastern Donbas coal area, and the second half of its name refers to that mining history. Industrial zones, rail lines and larger residential blocks were added around the older centre. The M4 highway between Moscow and Rostov-on-Don passes near the town, cutting a long straight line across the landscape.
A Kamensk-Shakhtinsky map poster brings river, grid and industry together in a single view. The broad loops of the Donets and the bridges crossing them look striking in Noir. Classic black & white shows the layered structure of old centre, rail yards and later districts with precision.
The river curves through the area in broad meanders. The town gathers along its banks, and bridges tie the two sides together.
The older part of town keeps a fairly regular pattern of streets and low blocks, a legacy of the settlement that came before the mining era.
Railway tracks and the M4 highway cross the landscape in long, confident strokes, giving the poster a sense of connection to the wider region.
