Te mapa
Kanniyākumāri sits at the southern tip of the Indian subcontinent, in Tamil Nadu. On a map, the land narrows to a point, and the town fills it: a close network of streets leading down to the shore. The Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean meet here. The coastline wraps around the town on three sides.
Just offshore are two rocky islets. One holds the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, built where Swami Vivekananda is said to have meditated in 1892. The other holds the tall stone statue of the Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar. The town is also a place of pilgrimage for its temple to the goddess Kanyakumari, and visitors come to watch the sun rise and set over the sea.
A Kanniyākumāri map poster shows one of the most recognisable coastlines in India. The land ends in a clear point, the town's streets gather toward the shore, and the two islets sit just beyond it in open water. In black and white the composition is simple and strong: land, sea and a meaningful end point.
The mainland narrows to a point where the coast turns from west-facing to east-facing. It is one of the most distinctive shapes on any map of India.
Two rocky islets lie just off the shore, one with the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and one with the Thiruvalluvar Statue. On the poster they are small, clear shapes in the sea.
Water fills most of the frame around the town. The poster shows the meeting of the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean as one wide, open space.

Koteā ko Kanniyākumāri
Many people visit Kanniyākumāri once in their lives, for the pilgrimage, the sunrise or simply to stand at the end of India. A map poster is a fitting way to remember that journey, and it means even more to families from the town and district.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with the date of your visit, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 download includes six print sizes. You can also order a printed poster, with or without a wooden frame.
