Te mapa
Kara, once known as Lama-Kara, is the main city of northern Togo and the capital of the Kara region. It lies along the Kara river, and its map combines broad, straight avenues with looser residential streets. The river gives the city a natural line through its landscape, while roads head out toward the surrounding hills and villages.
The city grew considerably in the second half of the twentieth century, when it was developed as a regional centre, and its planned layout still shows that period. Kara is the heartland of the Kabye people, and each year it hosts the Evala, a traditional wrestling festival that marks initiation for young men and draws visitors from across the country.
A Kara map poster reflects a city with a clear sense of structure. The wide avenues provide strong, straight lines, and the river and surrounding hills add softer, more irregular shapes. In black and white, the contrast between planned streets and the natural landscape makes a balanced and readable print.
The river that gives the city its name runs through the area, creating a natural line that contrasts with the straight roads and planned blocks.
Broad, direct avenues cross the city, a legacy of its development as a northern regional capital, and form the strongest lines on the map.
Hilly country surrounds the city, where roads begin to wind and villages scatter, giving the edges of the map a less regular, more organic character.

Koteā ko Kara
For people from northern Togo, Kara is often the city of family, festivals and return journeys. A map of it can be titled with a family name or a village, and the subtitle can record the date of an Evala or a homecoming.
The river and straight avenues look clean in Classic black and white and Blueprint. Sand and Paper give a warmer, softer finish, while Noir makes the street network stand out against a dark ground. All five styles are offered for every map.
