Te mapa
Karamürsel stretches along the southern shore of the Gulf of İzmit, the narrow arm of the Sea of Marmara that reaches inland to Kocaeli. From above, the town is shaped like a ribbon. A coastal road and a line of seafront blocks follow the water, and a few streets climb inland until the green hillsides take over.
The town is named after Karamürsel Bey, an early Ottoman naval commander linked to the conquest of this coast. In the twentieth century it was known for an American air station that operated nearby during the Cold War. Today the shoreline is mostly promenade, small harbours and housing that faces the gulf.
A Karamürsel map poster shows the gulf as a clean, empty shape against the busy line of the shore. The contrast is striking in black and white. The dense strip of streets runs east to west, the water lies smooth to the north, and short roads reach south into the hills.
The southern edge of the Gulf of İzmit gives the map its main line. The coast is gently curved, and the town follows it closely instead of spreading inland.
A main road runs parallel to the water and ties the neighbourhoods together. Most of the town's streets branch from it at right angles.
South of the town, the ground rises into wooded slopes. Streets thin out quickly there, leaving open space that frames the built-up strip.

Koteā ko Karamürsel
The poster suits anyone who grew up by the gulf, spent summers on this shore, or simply likes maps where water does most of the drawing. The long horizontal shape looks balanced on a wall above a desk or sofa.
You can add your own title, a subtitle such as a date, and a coordinates line. Then choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint makes the gulf especially bold.
