Te mapa
Kashiwazaki stretches along the Sea of Japan coast of Niigata Prefecture. From above, the first thing you notice is the shoreline, a long and gently curving edge of beaches and small headlands. The town centre sits on a narrow coastal plain where rivers reach the sea. Behind it the ground rises quickly into forested hills, leaving only a thin band for streets and rail lines.
The street pattern is modest and practical. It follows the coast and the river valleys rather than a strict grid. Railway tracks and the main roads run parallel to the sea, and smaller lanes climb into the hills. North of the centre, on the shore Kashiwazaki shares with neighbouring Kariwa, lies the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear power plant, one of the largest nuclear stations in the world by capacity.
Kashiwazaki is also known for the summer fireworks launched over the sea during its Gion festival, and for its recovery after the 2007 Chūetsu offshore earthquake. A Kashiwazaki map poster reduces all of this to line and space: the calm white of the sea, the dense coastal strip and the quieter texture of the hills behind it.
The coastline runs as a long, clean edge across the map, broken by small headlands and beaches. It gives the poster a strong horizontal line and a wide, quiet field of open water.
The built-up area fills a thin strip between shore and hills. Streets, rail lines and the main road bunch together in parallel bands that read clearly at any print size.
Inland the street network thins into winding roads and small settlements along the valleys. This looser pattern contrasts neatly with the denser town centre by the sea.

Koteā ko Kashiwazaki
A map of Kashiwazaki suits anyone with ties to the Niigata coast, whether they grew up by its beaches, worked at the plant or remember the summer fireworks. The composition is simple and calm, a coastline meeting a small town, so it is easy to hang in almost any room.
You can add your own title, a subtitle such as a date or family name, and the coordinates line. Then choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint and Noir make the sea especially striking, while Paper keeps the look soft.
