Te mapa
Katanawa lies in Fukuoka Prefecture on the plain that spreads south from Fukuoka city toward the hills. On a map this is continuous urban fabric: small blocks, narrow residential streets and the occasional straight arterial road cutting through. There is very little empty space, and that density is exactly what gives the drawing its fine, almost woven surface.
Japanese suburbs rarely follow a single grid. Older lanes wander, newer developments lay down neat rectangles, and railway lines slice through at their own angles. The result, in black ink, is a patchwork of textures that rewards a close look, with small parks and school grounds appearing as quiet pale rectangles scattered among the streets.
A Katanawa map poster captures that everyday texture rather than a postcard skyline. It suits people who have lived in the southern Fukuoka suburbs, commuted along its lines or raised a family among its lanes, and who want a picture of their neighbourhood as it actually works, street by street, corner by corner.
Small residential blocks and narrow lanes fill almost the entire frame, producing a dense, even texture that becomes especially striking when the poster is printed at a large size.
Straight transport corridors cut across the finer street pattern, giving the composition clear structure and showing how the area connects northward to central Fukuoka.
School grounds and small parks appear as open shapes inside the mesh of streets, small pauses that break up the density of the drawing and guide the eye.

Koteā ko Katanawa
Suburban places are often where life actually happens: first flats, school runs, familiar walks to the station. A map of Katanawa keeps that ordinary geography in view, and its dense pattern works as a strong graphic piece even for guests who have never been to Fukuoka.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a moving-in date, and pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 digital download includes six print sizes as PNG and PDF, or order a printed poster from a nearby print partner.
