Kattur sits in the Thrissur district of central Kerala, on the flat, well-watered strip of land between the Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea. From above it does not look like a compact town. Houses spread out along lanes and roads, and the gaps between them are filled with coconut groves, fields and small bodies of water.
