Te mapa
Kavalerovo is an urban-type settlement in Primorsky Krai in the Russian Far East, in the Sikhote-Alin mountains. It grew in the twentieth century around tin mining, and the industry shaped both the town and the roads that connect it to the surrounding valleys.
From above, the settlement stretches along a river valley, with its streets following the valley floor and the forested ridges rising on each side. A Kavalerovo map poster shows this elongated shape clearly, a strip of streets and apartment blocks set in wide, dark taiga.
Beyond the town, roads and old mining tracks lead up into side valleys, and the river continues through the mountains towards the coast. In a black-and-white print, the result is a narrow band of detail running through a landscape that is almost entirely forest.
The settlement follows the course of its river through a narrow valley, giving the map a long, linear shape.
Roads lead from the town into side valleys where tin was mined, thin lines climbing into the surrounding hills.
Forested ridges fill most of the map around the town, a large dark mass that frames the narrow strip of streets.

Koteā ko Kavalerovo
Kavalerovo is a town of miners and their families, many of whom later moved to Vladivostok or further west. A map of its valley and streets is a clear, honest reminder of where they came from.
