Te mapa
Kerch occupies the eastern tip of the Crimean peninsula, on the western shore of the narrow strait that links the Black Sea with the Sea of Azov. The city wraps around Kerch Bay in a long arc, its streets running down toward the waterfront and piers, while industrial districts and suburbs stretch north and south along the coast. From above, the shoreline defines almost everything.
At the heart of the city rises Mount Mithridates, a hill holding the remains of Panticapaeum, founded by Greek colonists in the sixth century BC and later capital of the Bosporan Kingdom. That history makes Kerch one of the oldest cities in Europe. A long monumental staircase climbs the hill from the old centre, and on the map the surrounding streets curve around its slopes.
A Kerch map poster sets the curve of the bay, the rounded mass of the central hill and the streets between them in a single calm composition. It suits anyone drawn to places where geography and archaeology are inseparable, and where a coastline has determined the shape of a city for more than two and a half thousand years.
The central hill interrupts the street pattern, with roads bending around its base and a monumental staircase leading up to the summit and the excavated remains of ancient Panticapaeum.
The city follows the shallow arc of Kerch Bay, and the waterfront, harbour and embankment form a smooth continuous edge that gives the poster its main line.
Beyond the bay lies the Kerch Strait, the narrow passage between the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, which has made this a place of ports and crossings since antiquity.

Koteā ko Kerch
Kerch appeals to people with a personal connection to this stretch of coast and to anyone who loves old maritime cities, where layers of history lie directly beneath modern streets. The map holds the bay, the hill and a childhood neighbourhood in one view.
Personalise the poster with a title, subtitle and date, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download the HD files for $9, or order a printed poster on matte paper, with a wooden frame if you prefer.
