Residential areas grew around individual mines, so the town appears as several connected clusters of streets rather than a single compact centre.

Te mapa
Khrestivka is a coal-mining town in Donetsk Oblast, in the east of Ukraine. It was known as Kirovske until 2016, when it was renamed. Like many towns in the Donbas, its map shows a settlement that grew in pieces around mines, with residential districts spread between industrial sites rather than clustered around a single historic centre.
The surrounding steppe is gently rolling and largely open, crossed by roads and rail spurs that once served the pits. Conical spoil heaps, a signature feature of the region, stand out near the mining areas.
Since 2014 the town has been under Russian occupation, and many residents have left. A Khrestivka map poster records the place as a network of streets, estates and industrial traces, a way of keeping a home town present for those who carry it with them.
Residential areas grew around individual mines, so the town appears as several connected clusters of streets rather than a single compact centre.
Blocks of multi-storey apartment buildings form the most regular shapes in the plan, laid out in rows beside main roads and open spaces.
Rolling agricultural land surrounds the town, leaving broad empty areas on the poster that emphasise the scattered, industrial pattern of the settlement.
