Te mapa
Kiyosu is a small city just northwest of Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture, on the flat Nōbi Plain. From above it is a dense mix of residential streets, rail lines and small fields, crossed by rivers flowing south toward Ise Bay. The Gojō River winds through the city, and larger rivers and embankments sit nearby.
The city is known for Kiyosu Castle, once a base of Oda Nobunaga in the sixteenth century. The present tower is a modern reconstruction by the Gojō River, and the site recalls a key period in the unification of Japan before power moved to Nagoya.
A Kiyosu map poster captures a typical Japanese suburban fabric: fine-grained streets, straight rail lines and curving river channels. It is intricate at close range and reads as a soft texture from across the room.
The reconstructed castle tower stands by the Gojō River, the historic focus of the town and a reminder of its role under Oda Nobunaga.
Several rivers and their embankments cross the city, drawing long curving lines through the dense fabric of houses and streets.
Straight railway lines connect Kiyosu to central Nagoya and beyond, cutting clean diagonals through the finely divided street pattern.

Koteā ko Kiyosu
Kiyosu matters to people interested in Japanese history as well as to those who live there or commute into Nagoya. A map of its streets and rivers is a subtle way to mark that connection.
