Te mapa
Koforidua is the capital of Ghana's Eastern Region, set in a valley surrounded by forested hills. On a map the built-up area fills the lower ground and spreads outward along the main roads, while the hills around it remain largely open, dotted with smaller settlements. The result is a town that follows the terrain, with streets curving where slopes rise and straightening where the land allows.
The centre is organised around markets and a handful of main routes, with residential neighbourhoods spreading in irregular blocks around them. Roads lead out towards Accra to the south and to other towns across the region. Streams run through the valley in shallow lines, and the town's edges blur gradually into farmland and forest rather than ending abruptly.
Koforidua is known across Ghana and beyond for its bead market, where traditional glass beads have been traded for generations, and for its role as a regional administrative centre. A Koforidua map poster shows a place defined by its valley setting: the compact heart, the roads reaching out, and the wooded hills that give the town its green, enclosed feel.
The dense centre sits on lower ground between hills, and the streets thin out as the land climbs, giving the map a clear sense of the underlying topography.
Main routes leave the centre in several directions towards Accra and other regional towns, forming strong lines that anchor the looser street network around them.
The commercial core around the central markets shows as the tightest cluster of streets on the map, the point where the town's main roads naturally converge.
