Te mapa
Kukichūō is the centre of Kuki, a city in northeastern Saitama on the wide, flat Kanto plain north of Tokyo. From above, the area is a mix of dense residential streets, rail corridors and open rice fields, with no hills to interrupt the level ground. Rivers and irrigation channels cross the landscape in long lines, and the urban grain loosens quickly into farmland at the edges.
The streets around the main station form a compact, closely built core, with shops and housing packed into small irregular blocks typical of Japanese towns. Beyond that, suburban neighbourhoods spread in a looser pattern, broken by fields, parks and industrial sites. Major expressways pass through the area, and their long curving routes and interchanges add strong, sweeping lines to an otherwise fine-grained map.
Kuki grew as a rail town, served by lines running north from Tokyo, and it has become a commuter base for people working in the capital. The wider city includes Washimiya, home to Washinomiya Shrine, regarded as one of the oldest shrines in the Kanto region. A Kukichūō map poster shows the quiet structure of a plain-country town: rails, roads, rivers and fields.
The area around Kuki Station forms the densest part of the map, a tight cluster of small blocks and narrow streets gathered where the rail lines meet.
Expressways cross the city on long elevated routes, and their interchanges draw sweeping curves that stand out clearly against the fine texture of the surrounding streets.
Around the built-up area, flat paddy fields spread in regular rectangles, crossed by rivers and irrigation channels, giving the map a calm, geometric border.

For families who have commuted from Kuki for years, or who grew up among its fields and station streets, a map of home is an understated reminder of everyday routes. It works well even in a compact apartment.
