Te mapa
Kuroda lies in the northwest of Aichi Prefecture, on the flat Nōbi Plain close to the Kiso River, which marks the border with Gifu. From above it looks like a typical plain settlement in central Japan. Clusters of houses sit along narrow, winding roads, rice paddies and small fields fill the gaps, and the wide river runs just to the north and west.
A railway line connects the area to Nagoya and Gifu, and its straight track contrasts with the gently wandering lanes of the older neighbourhoods. The Kiso River, one of the great rivers of the region, has shaped the land here for centuries, with its embankments and floodplain forming a clear edge.
A Kuroda map poster keeps all of this in balance: the river, the rail line, the small streets and the open field land between them. It suits people who grew up in this part of Aichi, and anyone who likes the calm, low-rise pattern of rural Japan within reach of a big city.
The broad river runs close by, and its channel and embankments form a pale, flowing edge on the poster where the lines give way to water.
A straight railway crosses the area on its way between Nagoya and Gifu, cutting a firm line through the softer pattern of local roads.
Narrow roads wind between houses and rice fields, creating a light, irregular texture that is characteristic of settlements on the Nōbi Plain.
