Te mapa
Kyauktaw lies on the Kaladan River in northern Rakhine State, in lowland country laced with channels, paddy fields and gentle hills. On a map, the town stretches along the riverbank rather than spreading into a compact block. Its lanes run parallel to the water and fan out into the fields behind.
The area has deep roots in Arakanese history. The ancient site of Dhanyawadi lies within the surrounding township, and the Kaladan has long been the route that connects inland settlements with the coast near Sittwe. Boats still matter here, and the shape of the town reflects that.
A Kyauktaw map poster captures a place defined by its river. The broad band of the Kaladan sweeps across the sheet, and the town clusters along its bank in a fine web of lanes. Smaller streams and field boundaries fill the rest of the frame in delicate line work, so the whole thing reads like a river drawing.
The widest element on the map, the river bends past the town and sets the orientation of almost every street along its bank.
Narrow roads run parallel to the water and link landings, markets and neighbourhoods in a long, linear settlement pattern.
Tributaries, creeks and paddy boundaries surround the town. In monochrome they turn into a fine, almost textile-like mesh.

Koteā ko Kyauktaw
Kyauktaw belongs to people whose sense of home is tied to a particular river and the rhythm of its seasons. A poster of its bends and landings is a quiet way to keep that landscape present, far from Rakhine.
