Te mapa
La Banda, known in full as La Banda de Shilcayo, lies in Peru's San Martín region right beside Tarapoto, and the two have grown into one continuous urban area. On a map it is hard to say where one ends and the other begins. The streets simply carry on, block after block, across the shared valley floor.
The Shilcayo river runs through the district and gives the place its name. Its winding course breaks the otherwise regular grid of blocks. To the north the ground rises into green hills at the edge of the Amazon lowlands, and the street pattern thins out and follows the terrain.
A La Banda map poster captures that meeting of a planned grid, a natural watercourse and the start of the hills. Tarapoto and its surroundings serve as a gateway to the forests and waterfalls of San Martín, and La Banda shares in that setting.
A narrow, meandering river line cuts through the district and interrupts the grid. It is the most organic shape on the map and marks the valley's natural drainage.
Streets continue without a break into neighbouring Tarapoto, so the poster shows one continuous urban fabric, not a town with sharp edges.
At the northern margins the regular blocks give way to curving roads that follow the slopes, a clear sign of the hills bordering the settlement.

Koteā ko La Banda
La Banda is home for many families in San Martín, and a map of its streets is a personal way to keep that connection, especially for anyone who has moved to Lima or abroad. The river and the grid make a clear, calm composition.
Put a family name, a street or a year in the personalised title and subtitle, and change the coordinates line if you like. Choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
