Land O' Lakes is an unincorporated community in Pasco County, Florida, a short drive north of Tampa, and its name is literal. From above, the area is dotted with lakes and ponds of every size, many of them almost perfectly round. The suburban street network bends and loops around them rather than following a strict grid.
Many of these lakes are sinkholes that formed in the limestone beneath central Florida, which explains their rounded outlines. Main roads such as US 41 and State Road 54 cross the landscape in long straight lines. The residential developments between them are filled with curving drives, cul-de-sacs and golf course fairways.
