Lehragaga is a town in the Sangrur district of Punjab, in the flat, intensively farmed plain that covers much of the state. There are no hills or large rivers to shape its layout. The form comes instead from roads, a rail line and the geometry of agricultural land that extends evenly in every direction.
The built-up area is compact. Its denser lanes are near the centre and the market streets, and they open out into newer housing along the approach roads. Beyond the edge, the map changes texture almost at once. Large rectangular fields are divided by straight tracks and water channels, the pattern that has come to define the Punjab countryside.
