Te mapa
Lixin is in southeastern Gansu, on the loess uplands that border the Wei River basin. This is a landscape of soft, fine soil carved by water into ridges, gullies and terraced slopes. On the map, the town occupies a patch of flatter ground, and its streets form a compact grid along the valley floor.
Outside the built area, the terrain dominates. Gullies branch across the hills in fine, tree-like patterns, and roads follow ridge lines or valley bottoms rather than direct routes. Terraced fields, common across the Loess Plateau, cover many of the slopes in closely spaced contours.
The Lixin map poster sets the regular street pattern against this intricate natural background. The contrast between planned blocks and branching erosion lines is striking in black and white. The image can work as both a personal keepsake and a graphic study of one of China's most distinctive landscapes.

Erosion has cut the loess hills into networks of gullies. From above, they spread out in fine, tree-like shapes around the town.
Roads follow ridges and valley bottoms rather than straight lines. They curve through the hills to reach surrounding villages.

Koteā ko Lixin
Lixin will mean most to people who grew up in the loess country of Gansu and now live elsewhere. A map records the shape of home in a way that photographs of the terrain rarely capture.
Add a family name, a year or a name in Chinese characters to the title and subtitle, and set the coordinates line. Five styles are available. Sand suits the loess tones, and Classic black & white brings out the gullies.
