Te mapa
Lunglei is the main town of southern Mizoram, and its shape comes entirely from the terrain. It is built along ridges and upper slopes, with roads that twist around the contours in long loops and hairpins. From above, the streets form a branching pattern that follows the hill crests, with steep drops into the forest on either side.
The name Lunglei is usually translated as a bridge of rock, after a natural stone formation near the town. That fits a place where connections depend on the land. Roads leave the ridge in winding lines toward Aizawl to the north and the districts to the south, and each one takes a long way round the relief.
Houses cling to the slopes in terraces, and churches and schools occupy the flatter spots along the ridge line. A Lunglei map poster turns this hill town into an organic drawing, with no straight lines and no grid. It shows only roads and buildings shaped by the mountains.
The main roads follow the crests of the hills, and smaller streets branch down the slopes, creating a pattern that looks almost like a river system.
Routes into town loop back on themselves many times as they climb, drawing tight, repeated curves at the edges of the map.
Steep valleys fall away on both sides of the town and leave large areas of open space around the dense ridge-top streets.

Koteā ko Lunglei
For Mizo families from Lunglei, this map captures the ridges and winding roads of home. Because the pattern is entirely organic, it also works as an abstract line drawing on the wall.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can all be edited, so you can add a name in Mizo or a meaningful date. Choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
