Te mapa
Macau occupies a small peninsula on the western side of the Pearl River Delta, facing Hong Kong across the estuary, together with the former islands of Taipa and Coloane to the south. Land reclamation has changed its outline dramatically. The Cotai strip now joins the two islands, and new land has been added along almost every shoreline, so straight edges on the map sit beside older, irregular coasts.
The peninsula is the historic heart. Its streets are narrow and winding, following the hills and old harbour lines, and the Historic Centre of Macau, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, links squares, churches and temples along them. Senado Square, with its wave-patterned paving, leads towards the Ruins of St. Paul's, the stone facade of a seventeenth-century church that has become the city's symbol.
Portugal administered Macau for more than four centuries before it returned to China in 1999, which is why Portuguese and Chinese street names appear side by side. Long bridges cross to Taipa, and the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge stretches across the delta. A Macau map poster shows an unusually dense place where every piece of land has been carefully used.
Tangled streets climb around small hills in the old city, connecting Senado Square, the Ruins of St. Paul's and the fortress on Monte Hill in a compact, intricate pattern.
Several long road bridges span the water between the peninsula and Taipa. They draw strong straight lines across the harbour and divide the composition into clear parts.
The flat, reclaimed strip joining Taipa and Coloane is laid out with wide roads and large plots, a regular modern pattern in sharp contrast with the old peninsula.

Koteā ko Macau
Macau stays with people who grew up in its lanes, worked there for a few years or visited once and never forgot it. A map of such a compact place fits a lot of memory into one frame. Personalise the title, add a date as the subtitle, and set the coordinates line to a precise address.
The coastline and bridges look sharp in Noir, and Paper and Sand bring out the old peninsula's historic feel. Classic black & white and Blueprint complete the set. Download the $9 HD files in six sizes as PNG and PDF, or order a printed matte poster, framed if you wish.
