Te mapa
Madruga is a town in Mayabeque Province, east of Havana, on the Carretera Central, the historic highway that runs the length of Cuba. Within the country it is known for its mineral springs and spa baths, which have drawn visitors to its waters for generations. The surrounding municipality is agricultural, with farms spread across gently rolling land.
The map shows a compact town with a fairly regular grid of streets and blocks of low houses around a central park, a layout typical of Cuban provincial towns. The Carretera Central crosses the town and gives it a clear main axis, while smaller roads lead out to farms and nearby communities. Beyond the edge of town, the land opens into fields and low hills.
A Madruga map poster frames the town's tidy streets within the open countryside, with the highway running through as a single strong line. It is a meaningful piece for Cubans from Madruga living in Havana or overseas, and for anyone who knows the town as a stop on the road east from the capital.
Cuba's historic central highway passes through Madruga and crosses the frame as a long, clear line. It anchors the town's layout and links it to Havana and the east.
Streets form even blocks of low houses around the centre. This simple, orderly pattern stands out against the surrounding countryside.
Fields, farm roads and low hills surround the town. They give the poster generous open space and show Madruga's place in the Mayabeque landscape.

Koteā ko Madruga
For Cubans abroad, a map of their home town can say more than a photograph. This one shows the familiar streets, the highway and the fields beyond, a clear and lasting reminder of where the family comes from.
