Te mapa
Mahanoro lies on the east coast of Madagascar, in the Atsinanana region. The town sits on a narrow strip of land where the coast runs almost perfectly straight for long distances. Inland, the Canal des Pangalanes, a chain of lagoons and channels, runs parallel to the shore. The Mangoro, one of the island's larger rivers, reaches the sea close by.
On the map, this makes Mahanoro a town surrounded by water on several sides. The ocean beach forms a long, smooth line. The lagoons and river channels behind it are much more intricate, with islands, bends and branches. The town itself is compact, with a small network of streets connecting the waterfront to the roads heading north and south along the coast.
A Mahanoro map poster brings out this layered landscape of ocean, dunes, lagoon and river. In black and white, the many water shapes become the main subject, and the streets form a small, dense centre between them. It is a distinctive image of a coastal town that rarely appears on maps in any detail.
The Indian Ocean shore runs in a long, nearly straight line past the town. It gives the map a clean, strong eastern edge.
Behind the coast, a chain of lagoons and channels runs parallel to the sea. It adds curving, irregular water shapes to the map.
The Mangoro river approaches the sea near the town. Its channels and bends create one of the most detailed areas on the map.

Koteā ko Mahanoro
Mahanoro is a meaningful place for people who grew up on Madagascar's east coast, and for travellers who have followed the Pangalanes by boat. A map of the town keeps that landscape of water and sand close.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, in Malagasy, French or any other language. The five styles are Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint emphasises the lagoons.
