Te mapa
Malindi sits on the Kenyan coast between Mombasa and Lamu, and its map is shaped first by the Indian Ocean. The shoreline runs in a long, gentle curve, with a narrow band of beach and reef-protected water in front of the town. Offshore, the protected waters of Malindi Marine National Park form a quiet blank space on a monochrome print.
The older part of town is a close-knit Swahili quarter of narrow lanes, small plots and mosques, built for shade and short walks. Around it, newer streets and resort plots spread along the coast in looser, more regular shapes. A Malindi map poster captures this layering: the dense historic centre, the airier newer districts and the coastal road stretching away.
Malindi is linked to one of the best-known moments in Indian Ocean history. In 1498 Vasco da Gama stopped here and left a stone pillar, which still stands on a promontory near the shore. To the north, the Galana River, known here as the Sabaki, reaches the sea, often colouring the water with sediment.

The historic centre is a tight mesh of narrow lanes and small blocks, clearly different in texture from the broader, more regular streets of the newer town around it.
North of town the Galana–Sabaki River meets the Indian Ocean, a wide, shifting estuary that gives the northern edge of the map a soft, organic outline.

Koteā ko Malindi
Some people know Malindi from long holidays, others from years of living on the coast. A map of the town brings together the ocean, the old quarter and the road north in one quiet image that looks at home in a sunlit room.
Add your own title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps the date of a first visit, and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand and Blueprint both suit a coastal place with this much water on the page.
