Te mapa
Mandeville sits high on the Manchester Plateau, roughly 600 metres above sea level, which gives it one of the cooler climates in Jamaica. On a map, the town does not follow a grid. Roads curve along ridges and dips in the limestone upland, and residential streets branch off in loops and dead ends.
The town is the capital of Manchester parish and grew as a nineteenth-century administrative centre, with a small green at its heart surrounded by older civic buildings. It later became known for its link to bauxite mining in the surrounding hills, and for a residential character that has drawn many returning Jamaicans.
A Mandeville map poster shows a place shaped by elevation. The centre is compact, with roads radiating from the green, while outer neighbourhoods spread in irregular, winding patterns across the plateau. The result is a map with plenty of curves and a clear sense of a town that grew with the land.
A small central park sits at the heart of the old town, and the main roads gather around it, giving the poster a natural focal point.
Streets follow the rolling limestone upland rather than a grid, curving and branching in patterns that make the outer map lively and irregular.
Newer neighbourhoods spread across the hills in loops and cul-de-sacs, softening the edges of the map around the denser centre.

Koteā ko Mandeville
Mandeville holds strong memories for many Jamaicans at home and abroad, whether school years, family homes or a return after decades away. A map of its winding hill streets is a quiet, personal way to keep that close.
