Te mapa
Margate lies on the north coast of the Isle of Thanet, at the tip of Kent, facing open water toward the Thames Estuary and the North Sea. On the map, the coastline dominates. A broad sandy bay curves in front of the town, closed on one side by the harbour arm, with low chalk cliffs continuing east toward Cliftonville.
Behind the seafront, the old town forms a tight knot of lanes, while Georgian and Victorian terraces spread uphill in more regular rows. Margate was one of the first English seaside resorts. The Dreamland amusement park still stands on the front, and the Shell Grotto, a mysterious underground passage lined with shells, lies among the residential streets.
The painter J. M. W. Turner came here often for the light, and Turner Contemporary gallery now stands on the harbour. A Margate map poster captures all of this in one frame: the bay, the harbour arm, the old town and the terraces climbing behind them.
The curved beach sits right at the heart of town. It is the most recognisable shape on the print and borders the sea along the top.
A stone pier curves out into the water, protecting the harbour and pointing toward the gallery that sits at its base.
Just behind the seafront is a compact, irregular cluster of narrow streets. It contrasts with the more orderly terraces further up the slope.

Koteā ko Margate
Margate means different things to different people: childhood holidays, a creative move from London, or evening light over the bay. A map of the coastline suits all of them.
Change the title, subtitle and coordinates line to mark a summer or a first home by the sea. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir makes the curve of the sea especially striking.
