Te mapa
Mariano is located inland in Northern Mindanao, in the southern Philippines, away from the coast and among the uplands of the region. The surrounding country is mostly rural, with farmland and wooded higher ground. From above, the settlements are loose and scattered, connected by roads that follow the lie of the land.
In places like this, the map is defined more by roads and terrain than by dense streets. Built-up areas gather where roads meet or run along level ground, and tracks lead from them into the fields and hills. The overall pattern is open and irregular.
A Mariano map poster is a quiet, sparse composition. Fine lines of roads and paths cross a mostly empty field, with small clusters of streets where people live. The emptiness is part of its appeal. It's a restrained image of rural Mindanao and a personal print for anyone with family ties to this part of the island.
The roads follow the terrain, bending around slopes and valleys. They are the poster's main lines and link the scattered settlements.
Small groups of streets form where roads meet or run over level ground. They add darker points of detail to the open composition.
Much of the area is fields and wooded ground, left as white space on the print. It gives the poster a calm, spacious character.
