Te mapa
From above, Maricá is mostly water and sand. A string of coastal lagoons runs parallel to the Atlantic, divided from the open sea by a thin barrier of restinga and beach. The built-up districts sit along the edges of these lagoons, and wooded hills rise behind them to the north.
The street pattern follows this geography. Roads run east to west along the lagoon shores, and neighbourhoods cluster where the ground is dry and flat. Where the lagoons narrow, the map shows how closely the town lives with its water. The long, straight line of the ocean beach frames everything to the south and anchors the composition.
Maricá lies east of Niterói in Rio de Janeiro state and has drawn attention for its public policies, including free municipal buses and a local social currency called the mumbuca. A Maricá map poster shows the setting behind those stories: lagoon, sandbar, beach and hill, drawn in clean black lines.
Several connected lagoons stretch along the coast, forming large pale shapes on the map that dominate the centre of the composition and give the town its outline.
A thin strip of sand separates the lagoons from the Atlantic, drawing one long, nearly straight line across the bottom edge of the poster.
Green slopes to the north stop the streets abruptly, so the built area thins into scattered roads where the terrain begins to climb.

Koteā ko Maricá
A Maricá print suits someone who knows this coast from weekends, family visits or a move away from the city. The map shows water and land in balance, which makes it calm to live with on a wall and easy to recognise for anyone who has driven the lagoon roads.
You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps a street name or the year you arrived. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the $9 HD files or order a matte print, with an optional wooden frame, from a partner close to you.
