Te mapa
Araruama sits in the Região dos Lagos, the lagoon coast east of Rio de Janeiro. The town lies on the northern shore of the Lagoa de Araruama, and on the map the lagoon dominates everything. An enormous sheet of water stretches east, separated from the Atlantic by a narrow strip of land. The town's streets form a grid that meets the shoreline in a series of small beaches and points.
The Lagoa de Araruama is often described as one of the largest hypersaline lagoons in the world. Its shallow, salty water once supported extensive salt works around its shores. Today the town is a residential and holiday destination for people from Rio. The main highway towards Cabo Frio and Búzios passes through, linking Araruama to the rest of the lake district.
An Araruama map poster is really a portrait of land meeting water. The regular blocks of the town press against the curving lagoon shore, and the wide empty surface of the lagoon takes up much of the frame. It is one of those places where a simple black-and-white map becomes almost abstract.
A huge, shallow saltwater lagoon stretches east from the town. On the poster it becomes a broad, quiet expanse with a long, irregular shoreline of coves and points.
The town's streets are laid out in fairly regular blocks that run right down to the water. The grid ends abruptly at the shore, making a crisp edge on the map.
The main highway through the Região dos Lagos passes through Araruama. It shows as a strong line connecting the town to Cabo Frio and the Atlantic coast.

Koteā ko Araruama
For anyone who has spent weekends on the lagoon or grown up in the Região dos Lagos, Araruama is a place of water and light. Its map has a spacious composition that suits calm rooms and simple frames.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, whether with a family beach house address or a summer date. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint and Sand work especially well with the lagoon's large open surface.
